Principal's Weekly Phone Message
Good evening Yates Mill families. This is Ms. Johnson with an announcement for the week of May 20, 2013. We want to send a thank you to all families and students who honored our teachers for all of their hard work this past week for Teacher Appreciation Week.
On Monday of this week, our fifth grade Leadership Club is sponsoring a food drive to help members of our community and to emphasize the importance of outreach in our community. We are asking students and families to send in one perishable item to donate to this cause. Items will be collected in the front lobby tomorrow.
This week is a very important week at Yates Mill. Students in third, fourth, and fifth grades will take their English/Language Arts EOG on Tuesday and their Math EOG on Wednesday. It is imperative that all students arrive at school by 9:00 to ensure a smooth transition to testing. Free breakfast will be offered to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students on both mornings. We will begin testing as soon as the morning announcements are complete. That is why we are asking all students to arrive at school by 9:00. The teachers and students have worked hard all year to ensure they are prepared for the tests. You can help your child feel at ease and more prepared by ensuring they get to bed early and have 8 to 10 hours of sleep the night before the test. Also, students should eat healthy meals with plenty of protein, especially breakfast, on those days to assist with the stamina and energy level to take the test.
On Friday those students in fourth and fifth grade who have been on Safety Patrol this year will have a celebration after school from 4:15 to 7:00. Information and permission slips from Mr. Cruze have already gone home with the students.
We know we will have a productive week together this week as we Leap into Excellence by Putting Children First. Have a good evening! |
