Principal's Weekly Phone Message
Good evening Yates Mill families. This is Mrs. Adkins with an announcement for the week of December 2nd. We welcome everyone back to school tomorrow and hope you had a relaxing and rewarding Thanksgiving holiday break.
This coming week is a full five day week. As a reminder students can enter the building starting at 8:45 each day and should be in their classrooms by 9:10 as the instructional day begins immediately at 9:15. On Thursday, December 5th, our PTA in conjunction with Barnes and Noble on SE Maynard Road by Cary Towne Center is sponsoring a Book fair night from 6:00 to 8:30. The Earth Tones and Ribbet Players will perform that evening; YMES students’ artwork will be displayed; teachers will be reading to students; and there will be a storewide scavenger hunt from 6:00-6:30. A flyer with all of this information was sent home with students in their Friday folder. Information regarding supporting the book fair online is also on the flyer. Also on Thursday evening, you can pick up your Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake. Order forms went home with students and are due back to the school tomorrow, Monday, December 2nd. All money raised for these events will benefit the YMES community through our supportive PTA.
On Friday of this week, students who are not yet meeting grade level benchmarks in any subject area, with their work habits, or possibly in their conduct, will be bringing home an interim report. This is a way for teachers to communicate to you of your child’s needs; however, since this is an interim report, there is plenty of time for us all to work together to help our students meet the grade level benchmarks and expectations. If you do not receive an interim report, your child is meeting the benchmarks at this time. If you have specific questions for the teachers, please do not hesitate to contact them. Also by this Friday, we are requesting that all parents have had at least one conference with their child’s teacher. If you have yet to schedule one, please contact the teacher.
Our students will enjoy a treat, Billy Jonas, this Friday at 2:30 with our first cultural arts event sponsored by our PTA. Students have been prepared during their specials classes to have a great experience.
