Principal's Weekly Phone Message
Good evening Yates Mill families. This is Mrs. Adkins with an announcement for the week of March 3, 2014.
This week will be a five day week as there will be no Early Release this Friday. It will be instructional time to make up for the inclement weather days in February. It is imperative that all students are in school each day to ensure they achieve academic achievement and growth.
It was great to see everyone last Tuesday at our Literature and Linguini night. Hopefully you had fun as a family and even learned a few new things!
As I know you already are aware, Yates Mill’s teachers are the best. I did want to let you know that Mrs. Noble, a fifth grade teacher and Yates Mill’s Teacher of the Year, is a semi-finalist for WCPSS Teacher of the Year. Ms. Harris, a kindergarten teacher, is a semi-finalist for the Diane Kent Parker First Year Teacher of the Year. Please join us in congratulating them and wishing them luck as they proceed to the next step in the process for these awards. They both have already accomplished so much by making it to the semi-finals as there were representative from over 170 schools in WCPSS. Thank you for all of your support of our fabulous teachers!
Interim reports went home on Friday, February 28th, with any students who are not yet currently meeting the benchmark standards. This could be in any subject area, in work habits or in conduct. Please be sure to always check your child’s Friday folder as well as your teacher’s newsletter. All third grade parents did receive information in their child’s folder about their current progress toward meeting the Read to Achieve criteria.
We know we will have a productive week together as we Leap into Excellence by Putting Children First. Have a good evening!
